A disgruntled Range Rover driver is blasting her car’s retractable door handles. Her complaint has inspired scores of others to criticize the brand.
TikTok creator Tamika (@deartamika) recently uploaded footage of her vehicular woes with the car brand, which Tata Motors now owns.
"Worst car ever," she writes in a text overlay on her clip. As she records herself walking over to the vehicle, she explains her disappointment with her purchase.
"This is your sign that if you ever want to get a Range Rover: just don’t get it," she states definitively after arriving at the car’s driver’s side door.
"Just get a Benz," she tells viewers as she lifts her key fob and points it at the crossover SUV. One of the ride’s retractable handles pops out. However, the driver’s side door remains firmly in place, while the back door’s handle on the same side protrudes. The quirk has left Tamika feeling frustrated.
"This car gives me so many issues. Like I’m literally pressing the key fob to open the door. And, only the back handle opened up," she says.
Tamika then tries pulling on the exposed handle, but the door remains locked in place. "And it’s not even opening up my car like, I’m so irritated. Like, this literally is the worst car," she continues.
More Range Rover Frustrations
Due to issues with her door handles, Tamika says she’ll be without the car until the problem is fixed. "Now I have to tow it back to Land Rover. Like, such an inconvenience. Like, I’m irritated y’all."
Commenters who replied to her clip also voiced their dislike for the brand.
Several people said Tamika should’ve known better than to buy a car from the automaker.
"Yeah we’ve known this for years girl," one wrote.
Others remarked that the only reason people purchase Range Rovers is for the name, not because it’s an inherently good vehicle.
"People buy Range Rover just to say they have a Range Rover," one remarked.
A second agreed, urging people to buy vehicles with higher dependability ratings. "Get a Toyota or a Honda. Status is a hell of a drug," they said.
Another opined that Range Rovers have been on a downward trajectory for decades.
"Range Rover been trash for over 20yrs now. They look nice but not worth the headache and also has the worst resale value," they wrote.
Range Rover Door Handle Issues
Range Rover has plenty of enthusiasts. But vehicle rating agencies aren’t among them.
Consumer Reports ranked Land Rover/Range Rover 30th overall among leading brands. Moreover, Rover was placed 14th in the luxury segment and ranked 29th in road tests and long-term maintenance and repair costs.
Tamika isn’t the only person with a new Range Rover who’s complained about having issues with their car. Motor1 previously reported on a 2025 Range Rover Autobiography owner who says that his ride intermittently stops while he’s driving.
Others have also reported having issues with Range Rover door handles.
Another Range Rover driver also showed the door handle on their 2023 model, which refused to pop out, just like Tamika experienced. They documented several failed attempts at getting their driver’s door handle to pop out, narrating their frustrating experience throughout the video.
A Reddit user demonstrated the same issue with their 2021 Range Rover Velar. Like Tamika, their handle on the rear passenger-side door pops out, while the front passenger-side one doesn’t budge. What’s different, however, is that the back handle wouldn’t retract after locking the car. Other folks who replied to their post remarked that they, too, had issues with their door handles.
Self-described mechanics on JustAnswer offered possible reasons for the Range Rover door handle woes. According to them, the retractable door handles could be impeded by debris, which can be remedied by simply cleaning the area around the handles or lubricating them.
Additionally, because electronic motorized components operate these handles, the problem could be with an actuator or the wiring harnesses dedicated to protruding and retracting them. If the issue lies with these parts, then the actuators responsible for these movements may need to be replaced.
They also suggested inspecting and replacing the wiring for the handles or updating the Range Rover’s software to fix the problem permanently.
