A 2025 Chevrolet Traverse owner reveals why she is regretting her purchase.
In a video that generated over 63,400 views as of this writing, Laurie Morrill-Smith (@boujee_blonde) shares how her 2025 Chevrolet Traverse has already been in the shop four times in under a year.
2025 Chevrolet Traverse: "I’m Over It"
In the TikTok, Morrill-Smith expresses her frustration with owning a 2025 Chevrolet Traverse.
"So, pretty bummed right now. I have a Chevy Traverse, ‘kay. A nd I am waiting on a tow truck to come pick her up," she begins.
Morrill-Smith disappointingly shares the reasoning behind the tow truck call is that there is a leak in the transmission.
"I’m dumbfounded a little bit that for a brand new vehicle this will be her fourth time in the shop, and I am just over it," Morrill-Smith vents.
Her frustration is displayed as she continues to share more about the Traverse troubles.
"I've had this car less than a year, less than half a year, and it’s already spent a month in the shop. It’s been to the shop three or four times prior to today, and now this baby is getting towed," she shares.
Morrill-Smith is unsure what to do next since clearly this is a recurring problem, and she seeks advice from the internet. She encourages any previous Traverse owners to reach out as she wants to explore trade-in options.
"I’m done. I’m absolutely done with it," she concludes.

"Not Sure If Chevy Is My Thing"
In a follow-up TikTok, Morrill-Smith reveals there is no update on her car after it had been in the shop for a week since the first video.
"Part of me wants to go just buy another car," she shares.
However, she doesn’t know what to get next.
"The thing is, I don’t know what to buy. I don’t know who to trust. I feel like I need to buy a car that is old and used and not have a lot of miles on it because apparently buying new isn’t the way to go," she reveals.
Despite popular belief that new is better, she is toying with the idea of getting a used car. She also mentions how she’s been burned by Chevy before.
"I feel like I’m lost. I’ve had two Chevys in a row within the last five years, and both of them have lost their transmissions. So, not sure if Chevy is my thing," she shares.
She then debates with herself whether to buy a Ford, Toyota, or minivan and asks viewers for their recommendations.
"What Car Should I Get Next?"
Viewers took to the comments section to share their recommendations for what car to buy next.
"Toyota, Toyota, Toyota," one TikTok commenter said.
"Buy Honda or Toyota. Can’t go wrong with [them]," another suggested.
"That’s normal for Traverse. Go trade it for Toyota grand highlander or Honda pilot," one recommended.
"I’m stepping away from GMC, Chevy. I’ve always bought American but I’m leaning toward a Nissan Frontier," one shared.
While other viewers took jabs at Chevy and GM.
"The Chevy Traverse has never been a good vehicle. I’m dumbfounded that people don’t do free research online before purchasing," one shared.
"Chevy in general is junk, but the Traverse is the biggest junk model they have," one added.
"Stay away from newer GM vehicles, tons of issues from electrical to transmission issues, engines blowing up," one commented.
Additionally, some viewers shared their headaches with owning a Chevrolet.
"Just bought my 2025 in January and I’m currently looking to trade it," one replied.
"I had a 2017 Cruz..bad transmission at 20k miles..it got totaled. Then a 2019 Trax..bad transmission at 40k miles. I traded it for a 2017 Equinox with 50k miles. Transmission went out at 62k miles. 8k to get it fixed. Now I'm trading it for a 2024 Toyota camry with 40k miles. Bye Bye Chevrolet," one added.
Has Chevy Had Transmission Issues?
Chevrolet was recently part of a major General Motors recall involving transmissions.
GM had to recall nearly 462,000 SUVs and trucks in 2024. The recall involved the transmission control valve failing, which caused the rear wheels to lock up, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports.
The recall stipulates, "Dealers will install new transmission control module software, free of charge. GM will provide a special coverage program to cover the repair of transmissions that are identified by the remedy software as containing a defective control valve," per NHTSA.
The Chevrolet models included in the recall were the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and 2020–2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2500, and 3500.
While this recall took place in 2024, the 2025 Chevy Traverse has not had a recall issued.
The most recent Chevy Traverse recalls have been between 2020 and 2023 and included issues with the powertrain, airbags, fuel system, seats, and tires, Auto Lemon Lawyer reports.
