Range Rover Evoque – next-gen to debut as EV in 2027

2024 Range Rover Evoque facelift

The Range Rover Evoque is set to enter its third generation as a battery-electric vehicle in 2027, when it will be underpinned by the Jaguar Land Rover Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA), reported Autocar.

The EMA platform will also form the basis of the next-generation Velar as well as the upcoming “Defender Sport”, and like the next Evoque, the larger Velar will also be a battery-electric model. All three upcoming models will be produced at the Jaguar Land Rover plant in Halewood, United Kingdom, where the current-generation Evoque is built.

The EMA platform uses an 800-volt electrical architecture designed primarily for electric powertrains, according to the report, and this will use motors built in-house along with batteries from JLR parent Tata’s Agratas battery plant in Somerset.

The automaker group’s EMA platform has previously been reported to be of a ‘skateboard’ layout, where its 800-volt architecture will support charging levels of up to 350 kW, While the next Velar will undergo a “radical repositioning”, the Evoque will continue to be the entry point to the brand, according to the report.

The current Range Rover Evoque emerged in its latest iteration in mid-2023 for the 2024 model year, with a host of updates including the P300w PHEV that featured a 309 PS/540 Nm plug-in hybrid powertrain using a 1,598 cc inline-three-cylinder petrol unit with a belt-integrated starter-generator and a rear axle electric motor.

A 14.9 kWh battery offers up to 48 km of real-world pure EV range, which can take up to 50 kW DC charging, and 7 kW AC charging for a 0-100% charge in two hours.
